Oh...and...

I always wondered about this. Now I know where to go to buy that stuff! Next time I have $100,000,000 lying around, I'll skip Ikea and buy something REALLY cool! YEAH! Until Next Time,

  • My uncle would like to buy his own private island when he retires. He was saying that they're pretty expensive, but that some of them are almost in his price range. Unfortunately, some of the most affordable islands are under the control of somewhat disreputable governments.

At the last family reunion, this led to a discussion of "island flipping", analogous to house flipping. You buy an island in a dangerous part of the world, then wait for (or try to accelerate) regime change, and sell the island for two or three times its original value.

I imagine that Indonesia would have a lot of potential for this (I don't think anyone even knows how many islands are there), although you'd need to simultaneously fend off the (relatively moderate) Muslim government and the local pirates.
